35 Getting Started Pass Classes at #RootsTech 2018

#RootsTech Getting Started Track Classes at a Glance

Beginning Classes and Getting Started Classes are not the same things. There are a number of great classes available for those just starting out in genealogy in the full Roots Tech registration, but if you want only Getting Started Classes, you'll purchase a separate pass for a discounted rate.

Before you sign up for the Getting Started only track, check out the class offerings and determine if there is enough to whet your genealogy appetite. Some of these classes are available on the RootsTech 2018 track with slightly varied titles. The biggest class variety is on Thursday with 14 classes.

And to be clear, a RootsTech registration does not admit you to the Getting Started classes and visa versa.

Below you'll find the RootsTech classes grouped by genealogy skill category. As you'll see my class, 5 Steps for Successfully Started in Family History fits into multiple categories, because it does and I really want every beginner to attend this class!!! There is an Ancestry.com class that also fits in two categories. I hope you will not be confused by my attempts to place the classes in categories by skill to help you further decide where you need to focus your time to gain the best educational experience.

#RootsTech Pass Comparison

The  Getting Started Pass is offered at a reduced price, but be advised that your scheduled workshops are fewer on Wednesday and Saturday. That would be a GREAT time to visit the Expo Hall and attend the mini-classes offered by various vendors. You can also visit the Family History Fanatics booth which will be near the FamilySearch Discovery Zone!

RootsTech 2018 will begin soon and is a great conference to feel the energy as a beginning genealogist.

If you don't find a class during an hour that appeals to you, be prepared for mini-classes in the Expo Hall to fill the void. Stay tuned and we'll keep this month of RootsTech madness going!!!

Be sure to stop by our booth in the Expo Hall to register for our drawings, purchase one of our books, or just say hello to your fellow Fanatics! Stay tuned to our Meet & Greet schedule including many of your favorite genealogists!

You'll also want to play the GBA.Buzz Scavenger Hunt Game for a chance to win.
