21 British Isle Classes at #RootsTech 2018

British Isle Track at #RootsTech 2018

From the land of bagpipes and tartans, step dancing and St Brigid's Crosses, love spoons and rarebit, and Big Bend and the Scarlet Pimpernel comes a series of classes to help RootsTech attendees trace their heritage from the British Isles. These classes teach attendees about British research methodology, history, and record collections. Some classes having overlapping regions, while others break out to specific areas in the United Kingdom.

Be on the lookout for a DNA class that is specific to British Isle ethnic origins. The most difficult challenge will be deciding which class to take on Saturday at 11 AM as that time slot has four classes for England and Welsh research.

The Great War has had 100-year celebrations of late, and this would be interesting for those with ancestors who served in the British armed forces.

  1. Ooooh, as a #FirstTimer, looks like Thursday will be my busiest UK day. Hubby has roots in England, Ireland, and Scotland. So many ancestors, so little time.

  2. Marian. My husband has many British ancestors, particularly from Cornwall. Most of my ancestors haven't 'crossed' the pond. They're stuck in 1850 Ohio (several lines are German but I can't get them to the old country) or 1800 Ontario. I have one line in 1800 New Jersey and one in 1840 Maryland.

  3. I hope that mapping out your classes in this fashion was helpful. Now you can go to the RootsTech app and mark your selections
