Over 40 Methodology Based Classes at #RootsTech 2018

40 Methodlogy Classes at #RootsTech 2018

Far too often, genealogy pursuits are disoriented and rambling adventures; however, when we take a methodical approach to our research, we uncover clues to solve our mysteries and deepen the stories of our ancestor's lives. RootsTech offers an intense load of methodology based classes to help you tackle your research quests with nearly 50 method based classes.

Beginners would do well to take different classes and reserve these for intermediate and advanced genealogy attendees. However, there are a few classes in the mix that might be of use. When in doubt, check the skill level description.

If you take only two classes, I highly recommend these two presentations:

Thursday 3:00 PM Did I Get Everything? – Using Research Checklists
This class is by Thomas MacEntee, one of the most sought-after speakers in genealogy. He's a must (if he's not streamed)

Thursday 4:30 PM Which Charles is Which? Sort Same Name Folks
This is my FAVORITE workshop surrounding methodology and sifting through clues to untangle twisted family trees. I LOVED Melissa Finlay's class and you will too.

So much to learn in so little time. Be sure to put a method based research class on your schedule. And if you really want a hands-on experience, consider signing up for the "Yes! You Can Read That Handwriting!" LAB. This workshop carries an additional cost above the RootsTech or Getting Started Registration pass. Sign up early to ensure you get a seat in the class offered:

Wednesday1:30 PM
Friday11:00 AM

If you don't find a class during an hour that appeals to you, be prepared for mini-classes in the Expo Hall to fill the void. Stay tuned and we'll keep this month of RootsTech madness going!!!

GBA.Buzz Prize List
You'll also want to play the GBA.Buzz Scavenger Hunt Game for a chance to win.

Be sure to stop by our booth in the Expo Hall to register for our drawings, purchase one of our books, or just say hello to your fellow Fanatics! Stay tuned to our Meet & Greet schedule including many of your favorite genealogists!

  1. Replies
    1. The bridge we cross over from beginner to intermediate genealogists is learning to love methodology classes!

    2. Indeed it is, and I appreciate your posts but I was commenting on the misspelt word throughout the post and in the graphic. 😀

    3. Oops. It would have been better if that was pointed out a little more clearly. But hey, I appreciate the assistance.
