14 Genealogy Videos to Enjoy This Week!

The latest genealogy video releases from YouTube of the week of 7 June 2019

Fourteen genealogy videos hit the YouTube platform this week and you’ll want to give them a view.

(Any of you know the psychology of numbers and wish I could have found 1 more to make a ’round’ 15?)

Latest from Family History Fanatics on YouTube

Check out my interview with Amy Johnson Crow

I enjoyed interviewing Amy Johnson Crow, of the Generations Cafe podcast, about donating our research to libraries and archives. It’s a bit lengthy but I could listen to Amy all day. Enjoy!

We had some technical challenges during our livestream at Jamboree.

On location livestreaming is still a challenge, but perhaps at a future event we can take on a sponsor to provide us ethernet access in exchange for promoting their company. What say you? It’s an idea…

MyHeritage Floods YouTube

MyHeritage Doesn’t do much halfway. This week they dropped numerous 1 hour videos teaching you how to use their platform. Here’s a sampling:

Grow Your Family Tree Online – MyHeritage
I love yearbooks! Check out these great photos you can find on the MyHeritage website!!!

MyHeritage released a new DNA video: How MyHeritage DNA Can Reveal Your Ethnic Roots. They also shared a number of fun historical interest videos that I’ll mention later. So head over to MyHeritage and binge watch their channel.

Genealogy Research Tip Videos:

Genealogy can be difficult, but thanks to some YouTubers, you can learn how to climb your family tree step-by-step. Which is why Melissa Finlay’s channel Boundless Genealogy is a must watch series:

Part two in researching a brick wall! (Boundless Genealogy)

Jarret Ross, Geneavlogger, has a GREAT video that walks us step by step through how he opened up his Jewish ancestry. Much like Melissa’s, he was working on a brick wall. Do you sense a theme?

This is such a great video. I could watch it several times. Well done, Jarret!

Ancestry.com is on the mind of several genealogy YouTubers, so check these videos out:

Historical Context Videos:

Family History Projects:

A number of folks are using YouTube to create videos about their family. Be the project for classes or family reunions, the platform is a great way to share. Check out this video:

As always, if you found a video or two that should be on this list, drop a link in the comments below. So long as the videos focus on genealogy and family history and are true to the YouTube style, we’re open to checking them out!!!
